Museum of Science & Industry: STE(A)M Lab Series (K-2)

The Griffin Museum of Science and Industry is coming to Irving to offer the best of their educational STE(AM) workshops! MSI educators will engage kids in a different topic each week that teach concepts and skills in Science and Engineering Practices, including: Asking questions and defining problems, Planning and carrying out investigations; Analyzing and interpreting data; Crosscutting Concepts; Cause and Effect; Patterns, and Systems and System Models. Weekly topics may include: Engineering Skyscrapers where participants build and test skyscrapers to see if they can survive a simulated earthquake; Crash Lab participants build and test safety features on a car to see if they can survive a simulated car crash; Sound Off where participants explore sound and how it travels through hands-on activities; Colorful Chemistry where participants explore chemical reactions through hands-on experiments; and Squishy Circuits where participants explore electricity by building simple circuits.... and more!

We will be running one STE(A)M club for K-2 and another for 3-5, with activities tailored to each age group.

Note: This class is the same workshop series as that offered last year in Fall 2025 and will cover the same activities as last year. While there is some overlap between the K-2 and the 3-5 workshop series, they offer substantially different activities so if your child took the K-2 workshop last year they can take the 3-5 workshop this year and experience mostly new material/activities.
